in Belle Mead, NJ

DECIDING WHETHER OR NOT TO EUTHANIZE A PET IS NEVER EASY.

WE CAN HELP.

If your pet’s health is declining, and you’re concerned about their quality of life, our team of caring veterinarians can examine them and provide recommendations on the next step. You don’t have to make the decision alone.

or call us at (908) 359-2000.

No one wants to see their pet in pain or struggling in some other way. While some pets may pass naturally and peacefully in their sleep, others are dealing with severe health problems or other conditions that affect their quality of life. It’s the latter cases that prompt consideration for euthanasia, a means of humanely ending a pet’s suffering.

Here at Harlingen Veterinary Clinic, our staff members are loving pet owners, too, and we want to be there for you every step of the way. Whether you need guidance and advice on how to care for your pet, or you’ve decided that it’s best to let them go, we will treat your pet with the kindness and dignity they deserve.

What to Expect

We’ll have a private room ready for you before you arrive at our clinic. Before preparing your pet for the euthanasia process, we’ll discuss the services and fees. We’ll also give you the opportunity to select an aftercare option (burial, cremation, or neither) and the fees associated with each. However, if you prefer to deal with the paperwork afterwards, you can simply leave your card with us and handle the paperwork later.

Once you’re in your room, we’ll discuss the euthanasia process, which consists of two injections. The first is a sedative which will calm your pet and leave them in a sleep-like state. The final injection is the euthanasia, which will stop your pet’s heart. Rest assured, the entire process is painless, and you’ll be able to spend as much alone time with your pet as you’d like before and after the procedure.

Aftercare and Memento Options

After your pet has passed, you’ll have a few options. You can have them cremated and pick up the ashes in two to three weeks, or you can take your pet with you to be buried. We’ll provide you with a complementary box, and if you’d like us to place your pet in the box, we’ll be happy to do so. We also provide memento options that allow you to memorialize your pet, including ceramic paw prints and ink paw prints. We can discuss these options more in detail during your visit.
